The Treasure Coast’s most popular and longest running street party, Dancin’ In the Streets, will go on rain or shine this Saturday, August 25th from 6:00 p.m. to midnight in Downtown Stuart. With the Treasure Coast out of the probability cone for Tropical Storm Isaac, organizers say the show is a definite go for this Saturday. “We may have some wind gusts and showers, but that’ll just help cool everybody off,” said event chairperson, Annie MacMillan – who also chaired the very first Dancin’ In the Streets 25 years ago.
“The important thing is that everybody turns out and helps make the event a success so we can keep Downtown Stuart thriving for many years to come,” she said.
The annual event, presented by Stuart Main Street and the Downtown Business Association of Stuart, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with with four stages of live music, seven tribute bands including an Elvis act, local street performers, food, vendors, kid’s activities, a car show, outdoor dance club, half pipe skate ramp, and more. The event is hosted by the two downtown development organizations and raises funds to for a variety of programs supporting the development of Downtown Stuart as well as popular downtown events throughout the year including the 4th of July fireworks and the Christmas parade.
This year Stuart Main Street has collaborated with the Downtown Business Association of Stuart to present the event. Also new will be the seven tribute bands bringing the festivals four main stages to life. Acts will include Alter Egos – an Eagles tribute band on the Riverwalk Stage with the Jimmy Buffet tribute show Live Bait; Earthbound Misfits, a Pink Floyd tribute act, the Led Zeppelin experience Ramble On; Livin’ on a Prayer and Never Stop Believing – Bon Jovi and Journey tribute acts; and an Elvis impersonator. Local acts will also fill the festival, with street performers all along Osceola Street.
Tickets to the event are $10.00. Children 5 and under are free.
There is plenty of free parking around downtown including in lots behind the courthouse and at Kiwanis Park and Sailfish Park. The free Sailfish Shuttle will be running that evening and will be picking people up at all of our long-term parking lots, like Kiwanis and Sailfish Circle.
