STUART, FL – April 30, 2014 – The public is invited to celebrate the City of Stuart’s 100th Birthday at a series of community events on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Activities will include a pancake breakfast, parade, and birthday party in Memorial Park.

The day will kick off with a Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at Kiwanis Park from 7-10 am. The fundraiser breakfast is $5 for adults and $3 for children 6-18. Kids under three are free.

The official Centennial Parade kicks off on East Ocean Boulevard at High School Avenue at 10:00. Local dignitaries, city employees, and businesses will be joined by a procession of vintage automobiles commemorating the city’s 100-year history. Local historian and retired columnist, Joe Crankshaw, will be Grand Marshall.

The parade concludes at Memorial Park with a daylong festival from 11:30 am-5:00 pm. The FREE family fun day includes pony rides, bounce houses, a lumberjack show and more. Live music will be provided by the Stuart Community Band, Stuart Middle School Jazz Band, the Rowdy Roosters (Dixieland), the Surfin Rascals (Classic Rock, Beach Boys, Buffet, and Southern Rock), and the Bushwood Band (Reggae). Food and drinks will be available for sale – and of course, there will be free birthday cake for everyone.

The day of festivities conclude a weeklong celebration of the city’s centennial, including a dinner dance on May 3 and an official ceremony and time capsule dedication May 7.
